Symptoms / Error

  • When restoring DB2 backup you receive the error "SQL2570N An attempt to restore on target OS "NT-32" from a backup created on a source OS "NT-64" failed due to the incompatibility of the operating systems or an incorrect specification of the restore command. Reason-code: "2".

Cause

  • This is caused by backing up a db on a 64-bit OS and attempting to restore to a 32-bit OS

Fix

  • Run restore command "db2 restore db dbname comprlib C:\ProgramFiles\IBM\SQLLIB\BIN\db2compr.dll"
